Xero alternative

Everything you use Xero for, for less

Runac covers the accounting jobs most small businesses use Xero for: invoices, bills, bank reconciliation, GST and BAS. It starts at $29 a month with no cap on invoices or bills, and we bring your Xero history across, receipts included.

What it costs

Books is $29 a month, GST included, with no limit on invoices, bills or bank accounts. Add-on modules like rostering, payroll or online payments are $10 a month each. For comparison, Xero's Australian Grow plan is $78 a month and Ignite, at $37, is capped at 20 invoices and 5 bills a month (Xero's published prices from 1 July 2026).

Moving across is done for you

Connect your Xero and Runac copies your contacts, invoices, bills, credit notes, payments and spend and receive money, then downloads every receipt and file attached to them onto the matching record. It runs in the background, never doubles anything up, and you can keep Xero running alongside until you're happy.

Your receipts come with you

Xero has no bulk download for the receipts you've attached over the years. Runac pulls them across through Xero's own connection, so your audit trail moves with your books. And in Runac you can download everything, receipts included, whenever you like.

Built for Australian books

GST is worked out on every line. Your BAS is built straight from the ledger, cash or accruals, monthly or quarterly, with an audit report behind every figure. Bank statements from any Australian bank come in by file or email and get matched to your invoices and bills.

More than the books

When you need it, switch on rostering, online payments, bookings, a customer portal, property management or a full childcare module. One login and one set of numbers, instead of a stack of apps that each charge per month.

Can I try Runac without leaving Xero?

Yes. Run both side by side. The import only reads from Xero, so nothing in your Xero file changes.

Does Runac do payroll?

Not yet. Most businesses moving across keep their existing payroll for now; it's on the way.

Will my accountant be able to use it?

Yes. Give them their own login with read access to everything, plus journals, period locks and BAS.
